DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) disposes of its high-tech logistics

In order to be able to focus on its core business in international air and sea freight forwarding, DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) GmbH will transfer its high tech logistics division to the Cargomind forwarding company as of 1 August 2017. Hermann Filz, Regional Manager Eastern Europe, including Austria, describes this division, which is specialised in storage and distribution logistics for sensitive equipment in the electronics and telecommunication sector, with around 30 employees as a very attractive niche business. However, there was a considerable need for investment to expect soon, in order to develop both the product portfolio and the IT structure, which the company did not want to bear.

This is all the more true because projects for maintaining the strong position in Austria are also pending in the core business segments of international air and sea freight forwarding. For example, Hermann Filz and Christoph Wahl, the new Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding (Austria), announced an expansion of the refrigerated facilities for pharmaceutical, healthcare and consumer goods logistics at the airports in Vienna and Linz.At the same time, the Thermonet service for temperature-controlled sea freight is to be rolled out largely.

All these measures shall serve to make the company more targeted, agreed Hermann Filz and Christoph Wahl. Their common goal is to defend the top position of DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) among the Austrian air cargo shippers, accompanied by an expansion of activities in the global ocean freight business. As of August 1st, 2017, around 170 employees at the company’s own facilities in the Freudenau port, as well as at the airports of Vienna Schwechat and Linz Hörsching, supported by sales offices in the federal states will implement this program.
