DHL launches operations at new Swiss facility

DHL Freight has launched operations in its new logistics centre in Pratteln, one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Switzerland.

With this new gateway for the European LTL Euroconnect service, DHL provides customers with even better quality and the highest security standards on a total area of 48,000 m2.

The new location also serves as the DHL Freight headquarters in Switzerland.

The logistics centre provides approximately 12,200 m2 for loading and reloading, including 62 docking positions for trucks, a warehouse area of 8,000 m2, a storage facility for dangerous goods and an open customs warehouse.

The complete shipment transaction and warehouse area is under video surveillance; electronic access controls, burglar alarm systems and smoke detectors for added security.

The Pratteln location puts DHL Freight close to the border triangle of Switzerland, France and Germany, and the facility serves as an important hub for the distribution of LTL shipments to approximately fifty European countries and the transport of partial as well as full-truck loads.
