DHL posts strong growth in Papau New Guinea
Amadou Diallo, CEO, Africa & South Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding said: "DHL Global Forwarding has continued on its strong growth path in Papua New Guinea, and we believe the country will become increasingly important not just to DHL’s business, but as a player within the South Asia Pacific region, especially with its economy tipped to grow 8.5% in 2011 and 6.5% in 2012."
According to the Asian Development Bank’s Pacific Economic Monitor, the 14 economies of the Pacific will expand on average by 6.4% cent this year, and grow by 5.5% cent in 2012. Overall growth in the region is mainly driven by strong growth in Papua New Guinea and in the two other natural resource exporting economies, the Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste, which are expected to grow this year by 7.5% and 10% respectively.
