DHL reports double-digit increase in EBIT and revenue
In the third quarter of 2010, DHL’s EBIT more than doubled, with the Global Forwarding/Freight unit posting an increase of 35.8% in revenues. According to CEO Frank Appel, the group generated significant improvements in the DHL divisions, not least because the global economy continued to recover in the third quarter of 2010. Transport volumes and demand for logistics services continued to increase in the third quarter based on the continuing recovery in the global economy. All DHL divisions generated good revenue growth, especially in global growth markets such as Asia. Consolidated revenue increased by 11.2% to €37.61 billion in the first nine months of 2010 (YTD 2009: €33.81bn). The Group’s reported EBIT increased from €367 million in the first three quarters of 2009 to €1.31 billion from January to September 2010. In the third quarter, the group’s EBIT rose from €231 million in Q3 2009 to €545 million, with consolidated revenue up 13.9% to €12.8 billion (Q3 2009: €11.24bn). Mail division
