DP World expands its terminal in the Jebel Ali port

Terminal operator and logistics enterprise DP World announces three years project investing a total of USD 850 million:

DP World, a leading international marine terminal operator and logistics supplier, plans to expand its terminal capacity at the Jebel Ali port, United Arab Emirates. The enterprise based in Dubai wants to add 4 million TEU capacity, resulting in total of 19 million TEU by the year 2014.

The new terminal, which will have a draft of 17 m, will be able to be able to handle the new generation of mega container vessels. The group will be investing around USD 850 million over three years. The project includes the adaptation of 1,860 m of quayside and 70 ha from an existing general cargo berth into a new container terminal, located within the existing container port. “The development of this new capacity at Jebel Ali will ensure we continue to meet the growth in demand from our customers”, the company explains in a press release.
