DP World registers clear uptrend

Strong demand for DP World’s container terminals in the year 2010

A high level of activity can be seen again at the container terminals of the DP World group in 2010. In the period from January to June the utilisation rate of the facilities has risen around the globe. The total turnover of 23.7 million TEU means a growth of 16 per cent on the previous year’s period. Thereof about 10.5 million TEU each were handled at locations in Europe/Asia/Middle East (up 8.2 per cent) and Asia/Pacific/Indian Subcontinent (up 22 per cent).

DP World based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has 50 container terminals and numerous new building projects in 31 countries, which makes it one of the world’s largest port logistics enterprises. The company has around 30,000 employees around the world. The terminal network in Europe comprises locations in the ports of Antwerp, Tilbury, Southampton, Le Havre, Marseille-Fos, Tarragona and Constanza, as well as in the location in Germersheim in the German hinterland.
