DPD Austria: Growth in 2012 and jubilee in 2013

25-years jubilee of DPD Austria: Management expects challenging 2013 in national business

2012 had been a positive financial year for the DPD Austria parcel service company. “As in previous years we were able to rise turnover and parcel volumes again“, Rainer Schwarz, managing director, announces in a press release.

As to turnover, the leading private parcel service in Austria achieved a 2 per cent increase to 160.7 million, compared to 2011. Transport volume rose 1.2 per cent to 38.5 million parcels. However, major efforts will be necessary to keep the development at this level throughout 2013, estimates DPD Austria.

Rainer Schwarz reckons with a still challenging environment in national business, while he expects slight growth in international business. DPD Austria based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2013.

In 1988 the forwarding companies Gebrüder Weiss, Lagermax and Schachinger founded the enterprise as the first private parcel service in Austria. Since then the company has been based on the three pillars quality, service and technology in its daily business. About 1,500 employees across the nation, operating a fleet of 900 vehicles, are providing comprehensive, national and international parcel distribution services.
