Globus to become logistics partner of Kuehne + Nagel

International hypermarket chain Globus chooses Kuehne + Nagel to support their network expansion in Russia

Globus, a large hypermarket chain in Germany, the Czech Republic and Russia, has selected Kuehne + Nagel as logistics partner for the import of goods and the supply of their hypermarkets. Kuehne + Nagel will be providing door-to-door seafreight and overland services for goods originating from Bulgaria, China, Germany, Italy and Thailand. In addition, the company will also be in charge for all customs clearance operations in Russia.

Globus has decided to outsource all those activities to Kuehne + Nagel in order to focus on the extension of its hypermarket network and increase the range of imported products. Since they import goods from various suppliers in different countries, it is very important for them to always be updated about the current shipment statuses. In this respect, Kuehne + Nagel’s web based tool KN Login proved to be efficient for the monitoring and managing of the cargo flows. Apart from tracking & tracing functions it also provides overviews and reports about all shipments and containers.

“Partnering with Kuehne + Nagel will support us to reach the goals we have set, including the opening of two new hypermarkets in the Moscow area and in one of the neighboring regions by 2014. Furthermore, in the long term, we plan to launch two new hypermarkets a year in Russia,” the company announces.

“Like our customer Globus we place utmost importance on quality and reliability and are delighted to have been entrusted with this business,” says Perry Neumann, Managing Director Kuehne + Nagel Russia and Belarus.

Globus is an international network of hypermarkets, 44 of which operate in Germany, 16 in the Czech Republic, and 6 in Russia. More than 28,000 employees in 90 shops serve customers on a daily basis. The first hypermarket was opened in Russia in Shchelkovo near Moscow in 2006. Since that time the company’s stores have sprung in the cities of Klimovsk, Vladimir, Ryazan, Yaroslavl and Korolev.
