Rostock port to establish container line to St. Petersburg

German Baltic Sea port of Rostock striving for integration into container services from and to Russia

Rostock port aims at being integrated into container traffic in the Baltic Sea. Therefore the management has launched a project to establish a direct weekly container service linking St. Petersburg and Rostock. “Rostock port is able to offer its strong feeder options to the hinterland and its favourable seawards location and thus make a contribution to efficient transhipment of cargo“, says Ulrich Bauermeister, managing director of the Hafen-Entwicklungsgesellschaft Rostock. According to his statements the distance between Rostock port and the three terminals in St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga could be covered within two and a half days.

To emphasise on their project the Hafen-Entwicklungsgesellschaft Rostock is organising a conference on container traffic between St. Petersburg and Rostock, which is to take place on 27 March. More than 50 Russian transport, logistics and vessel managers are expected as guests at the event in St. Petersburg.
