DPD Austria launches service campaign with more than 400 ParcelShops

Strong growth in online trade prompts the private parcel service company DPD Austria to arrange extensive innovations in parcel shipment for private customers

This spring private parcel service company DPD Austria is launching a service campaign in parcel shipment for private customers. It starts with opening more than 400 ParcelShops throughout Austria. Private customers can send and collect their shipments at each location, the managing directors Rainer Schwarz and George Karoh announced yesterday evening in Vienna.

Before the end of this year the number of DPD ParcelShops will be doubled to 800 locations. In parallel to the parcel service with 24 hours delivery within Austria, DPD Austria will roll out an international retail parcel service for private customers in May. Its operating range initially comprises Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. In September, they plan to introduce the new service named DPD WebParcel. The customer pays online for the parcel and attaches the self-printed ticket to the parcel, which can then be feed into the actual shipping process at the next DPD Parcel Shop.

DPD – – annually. A well-designed range of products and services offers just the right solution for every occasion. We make sure that your parcels get to their destination safely, fast and reliably – regardless of whether it’s in Austria or in a further 230 countries worldwide.

DPD Austria (Direct Parcel Distribution) based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna is by their own account Austria’s leading private parcel service for national and international parcel distribution. In Austria the company has about 1,700 employees and a fleet of 900 vehicles. In 2013 they shipped more than 39 million parcels, which is 2.1 per cent more than in the same period last year. About 10 per cent of them were delivered to private recipients. Turnover increased by 3.6 per cent to EUR 166.6 million.
