DPD Austria sees growth opportunities in international business

DPD Austria carried about 40 million parcels in 2014 and continues to expand parcel shipment business for private customers in the course of this year

Austria’s leading private parcel company DPD Austria generated sales of EUR 167.2 million in 2014, one per cent above last year’s level. This business figures resulted from the transportation of 40.3 million parcels (2013: 39 million parcels).

The recipients were mainly business customers – 88 per cent. 12 per cent of the parcels were sent to private recipients. The B2B as well as the B2C customers are mainly in Austria. About 10 per cent are shipped internationally, mainly to Germany.

„In April 2014 we started establishing our private customers segment. By the end of the year we operated 650 DPD ParcelShops. This will also be a focus for this year“, says Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director DPD AustriaThe target for 2015 is to expand the network to 800 shops, allowing private customers to reach a DPD ParcelShop within 15 minutes – mainly on the countryside.

In addition Rainer Schwarz announced a stronger commitment to international shipment business in 2015, as he sees goods growth opportunities in this segment. Apart from Germany, also the market of France is gaining importance.
