DSV Road reduces CO2 with Green Freight Europe

Road division of the DSV Group joins the environment initiative Green Freight Europe

DSV Road Limited recently joined “Green Freight Europe”, a new, voluntary initiative promoting cooperation between transport companies and their customers to further help reduce CO2 emissions from road transport. The programme covers both large and small transport companies, and includes companies like IKEA and Schneider Electric. The platform shall collect, compute and report CO2 emissions from road transport in Europe.

"The transport sector has an impact on the global environment“, René Falch Olesen, Chief Executive Officer, DSV Road Limited, points out. This impact can be lessened primarily by optimising the use of trailers by minimising unused space and empty running, and by collecting smaller shipments and transport them in larger, fully loaded trucks. Since CO2 emissions are directly related to fuel consumption, both the environment and budget can be saved, the management emphasises in a press release.

DSV is a global supplier of transport and logistics services, providing professional solutions for modern transport and warehousing logistics. With own offices in more than 60 countries, and an international network of partners and agents, DSV is offering services in over 110 countries worldwide. DSV’s more than 21.000 employees in the three divisions Road, Air & Sea and Solutions recorded worldwide annual revenue of EUR 5.88 billion for 2011.
