Expansion of Bertschi group at its location in Rotterdam
Bertschi group’s location in Rotterdam about to raise warehousing capacity and build second tilting facility:
Bertschi group is to launch the expansion program of its logistics activities at the location Rotterdam shortly. To permit further growth, the terminal will be enhanced by a 15,000 m² plot. This brings around 1,000 TEU additional warehousing capacity. This is also related to the further strengthening of Rotterdam as “Plastic Hub“.
In addition to the expanded capacities for warehousing and throughput the company builds a second tilting facility. Thus it responds to the continuously increasing importations of plastics from the Middle East. „The latest developments showed that apart from plastic granules also coffee beans and sugar importations will be handled with such tilting facilities in the future. They are loaded from 20ft-deep-sea-boxes to the European 30ft-liner-boxes“, the Bertschi management board states in a press release.
The expansion program is scheduled to be implemented this summer. Finalisation of the additional buildings is planned for the end of 2011, if the authorities "cooperate“.
