duisport group sets the course to new record result

Positive development of cargo throughput with the duisport group to be continued throughout the second half of the year 2011:

Business is running at full speed at the ports of Duisburg. In a press release the duisport group (including private plant ports) announces a total cargo throughput of about 130 million tons for the whole year 2011. The duisport group’s ports account for about 64 million tons thereof. “Even though the development is slightly declining, we will achieve the best result in the history of the port of Duisburg this business year“, announces Erich Staake, CEO Duisburger Hafen AG.

The returns oriented vessel and rail throughput in the duisport group’s ports shall amount to 33 million tons, which is also an excellent result. Vessel throughput shows currently an increase of more than 20 per cent. As for the goods types, coal, iron and steel, as well as chemicals showed an above-average development.

The duisport group targets also in container throughput a record result. From January to October more than 2.1 million TEU were handled with vessels, trains and trucks. “We assume the duisport group will beat last year’s figure at 2.25 million TEU before the end of this year“, says Staake.
