Dynamic weighing system for truck traffic in Hungary
As of June 1, 2018, Hungary activated the dynamic weighing systems for truck traffic that had already been installed throughout the country by the end of 2017. Thus, overloading road transport can be detected while driving and from now on a fine, warns the association Arbeitsgemeinschaft Internationaler StraĂźenverkehrsunternehmer (AISĂ–) in a letter.
According to the IRU, scales integrated into infrastructure on Hungarian territory are available at 89 measuring points in order to be able to control the axle loads and total weights of the vehicles during the journey. The test phase has expired, so that overloaded trucks now risk being fined.
“In connection with the electronic toll control system, the vehicle registration numbers are recorded and the measurement results of the weighings are transmitted centrally. Overloaded vehicles are either stopped as part of preliminary checks or on-the-spot checks or checked in flowing traffic. If violations are detected in flowing traffic, the vehicle owner then receives a fine notification by post “, according to the AISÖ.
The Hungarian Ministry of Innovation and Technology has published the booklet “Small TSM Guide” in various languages, informing about the new dynamic weighing system.
