Emirates Group again achieves record profit

Emirates Sky Cargo records cargo tonnage of 1.7 million and record revenue of USD 2.4 billion

 

The Dubai-based Emirates Group has marked a record net profit of USD 1.6 billion in the 2010/2011 fiscal year. Group profit was up 42.9 percent compared to the previous year, as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, announced at a news conference. Revenue of the Emirates Group – comprising Emirates Airline, dnata and their subsidiary companies with a total workforce of 57.000 – increased by 26.4 percent reaching USD 15.6 billion.

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates Airline, saw a 27.6 per cent-increase in revenue to a record result of USD 2.4 billion thanks to a worldwide rebound in cargo traffic. The cargo division transported about 1.7 million tonnes (increased by 11.8 percent over the previous year), and contributed 17.4 percent to the airline’s total transport revenue (USD 14.8 billion). Freight yield per FTKM (Freight Tonne Kilometre) increased by 11.3 per cent.

Emirates took delivery of one Boeing 777-300ER and seven A380s enlarging the airline’s fleet size to 148 aircraft.
