Dubai based Emirates SkyCargo takes over first Boeing 777F

A prominent airplane joined the freighter fleet of Emirates SkyCargo. The cargo division of the Dubai based Emirates Airline started operating the first Boeing 777F at the end of March. A second wide-body freighter of the same type is to follow this year. The B777F carried out its first commercial flight from Hong Kong to Dubai.

The Boeing 777F has the longest range capability of all twin-engine freighters and can be operated non-stop on important freight routes from Dubai to Hong Kong or to Frankfurt. Its maximum payload is 103 tons.

Including the new acquisition the freighter fleet of Emirates SkyCargo consists of eight airplanes (7 B747-400F, 1 B777F), and 123 passenger jets. The route network covers 101 destinations in 61 countries. In the financial year 2007/08 the Emirates freight division transported 1.3 million tons of airfreight and generated a turnover of USD 1.8 billion.
