Emons Spedition launches its own rail company

Private railway Emons-Rail-Cargo GmbH plans to expand its rail services to Poland and the Czech Republic

Launched in 2006, the rail transport services of Emons Spedition (Cologne) were considerably upgraded. Since recently the rail business activities are coordinated by Emons-Rail-Cargo GmbH. The new subsidiary is managed by Herbert Putzmann and Jens Uhlmann.

Emons-Rail-Cargo is in charge of the container train services from Hamburg and Bremerhaven to Leipzig/Halle, Dresden and Erfurt (vice versa) with immediate effect. The trains are operated in both directions up to seven times per week, covering the distance in 24 hours. Last year the company transported about 25,000 TEU and generated a turnover of around EUR 7 million. The target of the new management is to expand the rail services geographically to Poland and the Czech Republic.
