Considerably more air and ocean freight with Deutsche Post DHL
Deutsche Post DHL: Almost 10 per cent increase in turnover and significantly rising EBIT in the first half of 2010
Forwarding business of the globally leading post and logistics group Deutsche Post DHL is at full blast. In the Global Forwarding, Freight division, the trend of rising volumes observed since the second half of 2009 continued throughout the first half of 2010. “Particularly in air freight, but also in ocean freight, transport volumes climbed sharply compared with the previous year’s quarter. Considerable double-digit growth rates were generated in both segments”, the enterprise announces in its half year-report. Together with higher freight rates, this division was able to increase its revenue from January to June by 24.4 per cent compared to the previous year to EUR 6.7 billion. Despite the loss of the Quelle business, revenue of the Supply Chain division rose 5 per cent to EUR 6.5 billion. New business acquisitions and an increase in volume of contracts with existing customers led to strong growth, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The Express division achieved a 14.1 per cent increase in revenues to EUR 5.48 billion. Mail business showed a slight decline. In the first half of the year 2010 Deutsche Post DHL’s turnover rose 9.9 per cent to EUR 24.8 billion. EBIT amounted to EUR 765 million after EUR 136 million in the first half of 2009.
