Etihad Cargo’s freighters now also flying to Tansania

Airbus A330-200 freighter call: new weekly service of Etihad Cargo operated on the Abu Dhabi-Daressalam-Nairobi-Abu Dhabi route

Etihad Cargo announces the start of new flights to Africa. As of now the airline offers a weekly freighter connection to Daressalam in Tansania. The return flight to Abu Dhabi features an interim stop in Kenia’s capital Nairobi. The new route is operated with an Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft, designed to carry up to 64 tonnes of cargo on each flight.

The airline from the United Arab Emirates assumes the route to Daressalam will initially mainly be used to transport heavy electronic goods and medical equipment, while the return flight will mainly carry perishable goods destined for the Gulf region and Europe.

Kevin Knight, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, Etihad Airways: “Tansania is a very interessting market for Etihad Cargo. Our new weekly flight service on the Abu Dhabi-Daressalam-Nairobi-Abu Dhabi route ensures that we can profit from the strong demand for imports and exports, which becomes visible in this rapidly growing African metropolis. The connection to Daressalam will boost the commercial relations between the United Arab Emirates and Tansania and support our customers in the Near East and in Europe with capacities for maindeck pallets towards an important African commercial centre.“

Etihad Cargo is the rapidly growing cargo subsidiary of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. The company operates a fleet of nine freight aircraft: three Airbus A330-200F, three Boeing B777F and three Boeing 747F. In the course of this month a new Airbus A330-200F will be added to the fleet.
