EUR 150 million investment by Lidl Austria

By 2021, a new logistics center for Lidl Austria will be built in Grossebersdorf, Lower Austria. Overall, the company will thus create up to 240 new jobs in the region and invest more than EUR 150 million.

The new logistics center will be one of the largest within the Lidl Group and meets the latest standards. “The entire building will be supplied exclusively with green electricity from Austria, we will also install a photovoltaic system and two new e-filling stations. We use only natural refrigerants, all areas are heated and cooled by heat pumps and heat recovery from the refrigeration system,” explains Matthias Raßbach, Real Estate Manager at Lidl Austria.

Lidl Austria is expanding, especially in the Greater Vienna area. The logistics center in Müllendorf, which currently supplies the metropolitan area of Vienna, can not provide the necessary capacity for further expansion. Therefore, the warehouse is relocated from its current address in Müllendorf 2021 to Lower Austria.

“From 2021, the logistics for the Viennese branches will be managed from Großebersdorf,” says Christian Schlug. Provincial Governor Mikl-Leitner is also pleased with the decision: “Lidl Austria has been a secure employer in Lower Austria so far. With the new Lidl logistics center, more jobs are coming to the region.”
