Eurogate Intermodal comes closer to Vorarlberg

Eurogate Intermodal (EGIM), an international service provider for intermodal container transport via road and rail based in Hamburg is introducing a new direct rail link between the Port of Hamburg and the Singen Terminal (Baden-WĂĽrttemberg).

The Singen location is a road and rail cargo hub serving southern Germany and the tri-border region, with a focus on the Lake Constance area, Austria’s Vorarlberg region and eastern Switzerland. Regularly scheduled direct rail services to and from Singen offer customers fast and reliable transportation between Hamburg and the tri-border region, reads a press release.

Initially, EGIM’s new hinterland service will offer two roundtrips per week with a total capacity of 88 TEU per run and direction. The use of fixed rolling stock allows EGIM and its clients a high level of flexibility while facilitating optimised load factors and transport times. In addition to the pure rail service between Hamburg and Singen, EGIM also offer customers trucking on the first and last mile.

Niels Riedel, Head of Sales at EGIM: “We see our cooperation with the TSG Singen container terminal as an opportunity to further expand our maritime logistics business. Until now, logistics in this region have been more focused on intracontinental traffic, with rather limited access to maritime routes. Our new service is a step to change this.”

Eurogate Intermodal GmbH (EGIM) is a founding member of the boxXpress.de train service, a system of container block trains that provides daily shuttle services from the seaports of Bremerhaven and Hamburg to eight inland terminals in southern Germany. The link between the economic regions of Hungary and the German seaports is also an important part of Eurogate Intermodal.
