FedEx opens its largest operations station in China

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has opened a new operations station in Shanghai in order to meet growing customer needs and package volume. It is also the largest FedEx station in China.

Occupying an area of 5,140 sq m in the Pudong Sanlin area, the station handles the pick-up and delivery of international express shipments for customers in the Huangpu, Jingan, Nanhui, Fengxian districts as well as some parts of the Pudong New District.

The new station has more than 90 employees and nearly 70 vehicles. It is equipped with an advanced inbound and outbound shipment sorting system, which can sort up to 3,500 shipments per hour. All the shipments are connected to the FedEx global network, which reaches more than 220 countries and territories through the FedEx Express gateway at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

"FedEx is committed to growing with Shanghai which plays a vital role in our strategy in China," said Audrey Cheong, Managing Director of Operations, International Service, FedEx China. "We are continually expanding our operations and services to meet the increasing demand in the local market. As the largest FedEx station in China, the new facility will further strengthen our operations and give us the flexibility to support FedEx business growth in Shanghai and east China."

As part of its commitment to supporting Shanghai market growth and business needs, FedEx signed a Strategic Collaboration Memorandum with Shanghai Airport Group in June, focusing on the expansion of cargo and other operational facilities within the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

In Shanghai, FedEx currently has one international express gateway at the Pudong International Airport, five international express operations stations, one domestic service distribution centre and two domestic service operations stations.
