Flughafen Wien group is cautiously optimistic looking to 2012

In spite of declining freight volume Flughafen Wien registered a positive development of operating business in 2011

In spite of the economic uncertainty, the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG is cautiously optimistic concerning the development of business in 2012. A slight increase is expected in revenue. The target calls for EBITDA of at least EUR 200 million and net profit of over EUR 50 million. At the balance press conference the CEOs Julian Jäger and Dr. Günther Ofner said the position of the Vienna International Airport as a leading hub to Eastern Europe, the high service quality as well as the growth perspectives in the non-aviation segment represent a high potential for added value.

Revenue recorded by the Flughafen Wien Group rose by 9 per cent to EUR 582 million in 2011. External revenue in the Airport segment rose by 13.3 per cent to EUR 294.6 million in 2011. The Handling Segment recorded a 2.9%-decline in revenue to EUR 160.5 million. EBITDA increased 12.4 per cent to EUR 189 million. Impairment charges and non-recurring effects reduced net profit to EUR 31.6 million (-58.3%), while EBIT amounted to EUR 67.2 million (-34.3%). “The operating business showed sound development in 2011; the measures implemented to reduce costs and improve productivity are taking effect“, summarised Günther Ofner.

A total of EUR 262.8 million was invested in 2011; EUR 160 million will be spent this year and plans call for investments of EUR 590 million by 2015. Air cargo handling (including trucking) amounted to a total of 277,784 tons in 2011, which means a decline by 6.2 per cent compared to the previous year.
