RMS means now Rhenus Maritime Services GmbH

Rhein-, Maas- und See-Schifffahrtskontor GmbH changed its trading name to Rhenus Maritime Services with effect from 22 June

The abbreviation remains the same, the company name was changed. Rhein-, Maas- und See-Schiffahrtskontor GmbH changed its trading name to Rhenus Maritime Services GmbH (RMS) with effect from 22 June 2012. The change in name enables the long-standing company to demonstrate its links to the Rhenus Group even more strongly. The logistics services provider completely took over the charterer and shipping company at the beginning of 2007 – after Rhenus had already secured a holding in RMS in 2004. RMS has complemented the range of products in the Rhenus Port Logistics business area since that time in the short-sea traffic sector with a major focus on sea/river shipping.

“We would like to emphatically underline our links to Rhenus in the world of logistics by using this new name,” says Thomas Ullrich, Managing Director of Rhenus Maritime Services, giving the reasons for the change of name. “We will continue to offer all our expertise to provide efficient transport solutions and guarantee high levels of service quality. The change of name is also designed to show our customers even more clearly that when working with us, they have access to the complete Rhenus network and its capacities for developing and handling logistics chains.”

Rhenus Maritime Services GmbH has its headquarters in Duisburg and organises the global chartering of vessels from there and other business centres like Hamburg, Bremen or Copenhagen or offers its customers door-to-door services across Europe. RMS currently operates 18 seagoing and river vessels and uses as many as 60 others, especially coasters, for exclusive charter services. The UK, Scandinavia, the Iberian Peninsula, Russia, the Baltic States and the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions are the most important shipping destinations for RMS’ short-sea traffic.

Rhenus Maritime Services transports a variety of goods, including steel, paper, wood, pipes, project loads and containers, but also bulk commodities, hazardous goods or waste products. The company also operates as a shipping broker in the chartering, tramp shipping, purchases and sales sectors and as a shipping agent from its business centres.
