FMS Lübeck writes 100 years of forwarding history
To this day, the Lübeck location of Fr. Meyer’s Sohn (FMS) is operating in the forestry industry in particular, including paper and cellulose transports as well as lignin. These are transported in up and downstram by the 40 own Euro 6 trucks with Fleetboards within Germany as well as from/to Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. All trailers are equipped with Joloda systems. This year, the first 13 trucks with turn-off assistance system were added to the fleet.
For the handling of palletised goods (for example paper, viscose and lignin), 1,250 m² of own storage space is available on the grounds in Schwartauer Landstraße. In addition to forest products, FMS Lübeck also exports and imports machines, commercial and passenger vehicles from/to Scandinavia and the Baltic States. In total, just under 1.2 million tonnes of goods were shipped in 2018.
In 1919, FMS Lübeck started work with two employees; today, 71 people work at the site – including 46 drivers and five apprentices. There have been many turbulent events over the past 100 years, but the company says it has kept track of current conditions and future needs, and has become a major transportation and logistics service provider.
Ms. Meyer’s Sohn (FMS) is a family-owned global freight forwarding company and one of the world’s top ten ocean freight forwarding companies.
