Freight wagon company Wascosa expands its product portfolio

Wascosa AG is expanding its wagon fleet and rejuvenating its existing fleet. By adding numerous new rolling units the current average age of the fleet of 13 years is to be reduced to an average of 10 years by the end of 2018. “The advantages of Europe’s youngest wagon fleet are obvious to our customers: low-noise, safe and highly efficient,” says Wascosa CEO Peter Balzer.

At the same time, the carriages will be systematically upgraded with a telematics system. Peter Balzer says: “Digitalisation has definitely found its way into the freight wagon industry, the trend is unstoppable”. Moreover, 200 Fanps type bulk wagons were purchased recently.

The family-owned company Wascosa, headquartered in Lucerne (Switzerland), was founded in 1964 and is one of the pioneers in the industry. The core business is hiring and management of rail freight wagons. Wascosa procures modern freight cars that meet the needs of the shipping industry. The fleet ranges from tank wagons for the chemical and petroleum industry to combined transport wagons and bulk transit wagons.
