Frigologo opens EUR 17 million extension in Maria Lanzendorf

On 5 June, Frigologo GmbH officially opened the extension of its temperature-controlled transshipment point for food products of all kinds in Maria Lanzendorf near Vienna. In total, customers now have access to 23,000 m² of warehouse space and 2,000 m² of office space. Now the company was offering optimal storage and picking conditions for a wide range of food, as the owner Fritz Herzog announced in a press conference.

Chocolate, meat, sausages, dairy products, convenience food and other items are stored and commissioned in four different temperature zones ranging from 0 ° C to + 18 ° C and ambient in the new food handling center for the metropolitan area of ​​Vienna and the CEE region. For example, in the new “Zubau Nord”, the transshipment point for amient stored goods, offers storage space for fruit and vegetables at 12 ° C, and for meat and sausage at 0 to 2 ° C.

A high-bay warehouse with constant 14 ° C is available in the “Zubau Süd”: “Here an stage level was added, which offers us enough space for repacking and assembly of displays. Thus, the individual specifications of the customer can be addressed even better, which will save downstream work processes,” explains Frigologo CEO Friedrich Zechmann.

Frigologo picks around 35,000 tonnes of food per year for warehouse customers. “In addition, we handle cross docking operations for various trading companies, where a total of approximately 240,000 tonnes are turned over in our warehouses,” says Friedrich Zechmann. By expanding the warehouses and transhipment halls, Maria Lanzendorf could now serve even more countries in Southeastern Europe, including Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria, as well as Moldova and Georgia.

Frigologo sees itself as an independent, Austrian service provider for the transport, storage, picking and distribution of fresh and temperature-controlled food. The company, founded by Fritz Herzog in 1991 and headquartered in Seekirchen in Salzburg, is one of the largest full-range providers of temperature-controlled food logistics in Central and Eastern Europe. The total storage and handling areas total around 60,000 m². By the end of 2017, 450 Frigologo trailer trucks were operated on Europe’s roads.
