Gebrüder Weiss and cargo-partner shine in North America
The Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announces the nominations for the Film Oscars. “Unfortunately, there is no Austrian film in the running this time, but we will once again award the ‘WirtschaftsOskar 2018’ for excellence in the American market,” says Walter Koren, the new Austrian business delegate in Los Angeles.
In the investment category, two international transport and logistics service providers rank among the nominated companies, namely cargo-partner and Gebrüder Weiss.
In 2017, cargo-partner GmbH (Lower Austria) invested in the further expansion of the US presence and received the coveted investor status (E2). Warehouse logistics in Clarksville / TN, Chicago / IL, Albany / NY and Linden / NJ has been massively established and expanded. Attractive eCommerce solutions are available. Since 2017, cargo-partner also holds a US customs license, which now enables the new Customs Brokerage Service.
Gebrüder Weiss (Vorarlberg) set one of the most significant milestones in its internationalization history in 2017. Three offices in Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles were wholly taken over from a former joint venture. Two new locations in New York and Chicago as well as recently in Dallas are newly launched. In one of the most important markets in the world, Gebrüder Weiss has managed this feat within six months.
With the USA-Biz-Award, the so-called “WirtschaftsOskar”, the Foreign Trade Center Los Angeles of the Außenwirtschaft Austria of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) honors outstanding achievements of Austrian companies on the highly competitive US market for the eighth time. Seventeen companies are in the race for the “WirtschaftsOskar 2018”. The WirtschaftsOskar is awarded in the categories Start-up, Investment, Market Footprint, Trendsetter and Spectacular.
