Gebrüder Weiss continues expansion to CEEC

Gebrüder Weiss plans location in western Hungary and expansion steps on the Balkans

Striving to continuously improve their "service excellence”, the Gebrüder Weiss group takes further steps to densify their network structures in Central and Southeastern Europe. In a press dialogue in Budapest Heinz Senger-Weiss, Managing Director for Air & Sea in the family-run company, announced the opening of a location in Mosonmagyaróvár and the establishment of a national company in Montenegro. For the years 2011 and 2012 they plan to expand to Albania and Kosovo.

From the turn of the year 2010/2011 Gebrüder Weiss will attend to a CEE logistics project on behalf of an international, major customer with around 30 employees from their new location in Mosonmagyaróvár. Moreover, this station will be used as a hub for groupage cargo traffic with departure or destination points in western Hungary, as Regional Director Jürgen Bauer drew an outline in the interview with Österreichische Verkehrzeitung (Austrian Transport Journal). They plan to open a location with a warehouse for throughput in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

Last week Gebrüder Weiss celebrated the 20-years jubilee of their Hungarian company together with customers and business partners in Budapest. The subsidiary managed by Thomas Schauer, which is based in Dunaharaszti near Budapest, has around 220 employees at four locations. Based on 30,000 m² warehousing area and 130 vehicles, they forwarded 748,885 consignments with a total weight of 215,073 tons last year. This resulted in a total turnover of EUR 32 million.
