Gebrüder Weiss establishes joint venture with Tegeta Motors

Gebrüder Weiss has established a joint venture with Tegeta Motors in Tbilisi, Georgia, with Gebrüder Weiss holding a majority stake.

The joint venture is called Gebrüder Weiss-Tegeta and will offer land transport, air and sea freight services as well as logistics solutions.

Gebrüder Weiss said that by entering the market in Georgia, it is strengthening its regional organisation and developing its business in the Caucasus region. "Through this joint venture, we are building a strategically important platform in the Caucasus – a region that is developing into a hub between the booming markets in Asia and Europe," said Board Member Wolfram Senger-Weiss.

The company also announced it will construct a logistics facilities in Tbilisi with approximately 10,000 sq m of warehouse space; the project is expected to be completed in early 2013. The Gebrüder Weiss-Tegeta team will initially consist of 23 employees, headed by Aleksandre Kharlamov. Kharlamov was previously the Head of transport and logistics activities of the parent company Tegeta Motors. He will report to Thomas Moser, Regional Manager Southeast/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss.
