Gebrüder Weiss welcomes 66 new apprentices
The international transport and logistics company is investing into the training of own professionals and offers attractive career opportunities to young people
In early September 66 apprentices started their professional career at the Gebrüder Weiss branches in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (2014: 63). Within three to four years of training the career starters will become forwarding agents, company logisticians, IT technicians and professional truck drivers. They will rotate from one department to another to gain comprehensive and practical experience.
“We are pleased with the great interest young people show for an apprenticeship in the transport and logistics industry,” says Susanne Artinger, Head of Apprenticeship at Gebrüder Weiss. The promotion of own professionals is a central concern of the company. With the new apprentices Gebrüder Weiss trains a total of 200 apprentices at 17 locations in German-speaking countries.
For the targeted promotion of apprentices Gebrüder Weiss has around 200 trainers, specialising in youth work. In addition to professional training in the areas of transportation, storage, consulting, logistics, customs clearance and IT also personal issues are not missing: For the youths trips, excursions and multi-day camp will be organised as well as professional trainings. For its commitment to training Gebrüder Weiss was awarded as “Best teaching company in Austria” in spring in the course of the prestigious “Great Place to Work”-competition.
More information about the various professional careers can be found on ‘whatchado’, Gebrüder Weiss’ social media platform.
