Gefco establishes CEE sea freight hub in Bremen

New Gefco sea freight concept for Middle and Eastern Europe

Gefco Deutschland GmbH is preparing to open a new sea freight hub in Bremen. As of spring 2010 this location is planned to manage intercontinental freight transportations of the Gefco Group going from and to the markets in Middle and Eastern Europe. In a first step the sea freight hub will handle importations from China (Shanghai in particular) and exportations to South America, focussing on Santos and Buenos Aires, as Abel Lamé, Managing Director, announced last week in Berlin.

As for the air freight segment the investment into the air cargo hub at the Frankfurt airport that was opened in July 2009 is yielding first fruits. First customers as well as several national Gefco companies are using the hub for China services intensively. The Management has decided to integrate also India, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and Korea in their concept.
