Gefco strengthens its network by company acquisition
Gefco takes over 70 per cent of the shares of the Italian Gruppo Mercurio
The European leader in transportation and logistics services Gefco has recently signed an agreement about the takeover of 70 per cent of the shares of the Italian Gruppo Mercurio. The Mercurio group is one of the leading players in transportation and distribution of vehicles in Italy and abroad. The enterprise has generated revenues of EUR 127 million in 2010. The acquisition is still subject to the approval of the relevant antitrust authorities. With this acquisition the French logistics group aims to further develop its outbound automotive logistics as well as the diversification of its clients portfolio and the extension of its international business activities. In addition, synergies with Mercurio will enable Gefco to strengthen its European network’s competitiveness.
