Gefco to establish a vehicle compound in Greater Graz

Austrian Gefco branch opens logistics centre for new cars in Greater Graz, Styria; shipments to be handled via the port of Koper

Gefco Austria is about to establish a new site for vehicle logistics to and from Austria. On November 1, 2013 a vehicle compound in Greater Graz will be put into operation. The facility is designed for the storage of about 1,000 units (cars and utility vehicles) with connected workshop, where vehicles can be prepared and modified according to customers or country. “A major issue in the new facility will be ultralight conversion of delivery and assembly vehicles with special focus on reduction of CO2-emission and of fuel consumption.

In addition the nine employees at the Styrian vehicle compound will organise delivery logistics of the Coupé Peugeot RCZ manufactured at Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik in Graz. Some Mediterranean countries will be supplied by shipments via the Slovenian seaport of Koper, “which we also intend to use for import business, in which the new location will be involved”, said Thomas Ziegler, managing director, and Christian Moser, head sales & marketing. Basically the new site in Styria is designed to support the existing vehicle logistics sites of Gefco Österreich GmbH in the port of Vienna and at their longstanding partner Hödlmayr Logistics in Schwertberg, Upper Austria.
