Geis modernises logistics centers in the Czech Republic and Poland

The Dutch VanRiet Group has developed, installed and recently commissioned two comprehensive intralogistics systems for the Geis Group. Both solutions have a similar structure and form the heart of the sorting operations and are part of the modernization of the Geis logistics centers in Modletice near Prague and Lodz in Poland.

“In order to ensure an efficient sorting process in the long term, we deliberately chose the HC Sorter from VanRiet,” says Daniel Knaisl, Managing Director at Geis. “The closed surface of the sorter prevents waste from getting inside, thus preventing disruptions and downtimes. In addition, this design improves working conditions, as the system has very low noise emissions.”

The packages are led into the sorter by 16 telescopic transporters, which merge into two main lines at high speed. Depending on the desired destination, the system sorts the packages to the respective exit point. At peak times, up to 16,000 packages per hour are processed.

Van-Riet achieves this figure by combining two HC sorters. In total, the system in Modletice has 41 exit points at which the packages are loaded onto the transport vehicles, in Lodz there are 44.
