Geodis and SIVOM form JV in Africa

Geodis and the Côte d’Ivoire group SIVOM have established a joint entity – Movis International – to broaden their offering and strengthen their position across central and western Africa.

Geodis Wilson, the Geodis group’s Freight Management division, has been present in Africa since 1998, mainly operating in air and sea transport commissioning, port consignments and handling, warehousing and logistics for major industrial projects.

SIVOM has worked in Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso since 1973, providing transit and port logistics (stevedoring, consignments and port handling) services.

The two groups decided to combine their respective sales expertise and local operations (apart from major industrial projects, which will continue to be managed by Geodis Wilson) under the Movis International brand in order to strengthen their market visibility and boost development.

The contributions of Geodis Wilson’s African business to the new JV bring the Freight Management division a 40% share of the new entity.

The alliance gives SIVOM customers direct access to Geodis‘ 120-country network and its multi-business offer.

Geodis customers will benefit from more extensive port logistics operations, a particular expertise of SIVOM.

Movis International will work in the two partners‘ current geographic territory, with increased development at big ports in the Gulf of Guinea.
