Geodis buys parts of Giraud International

 
CEE activities of Giraud International to be integrated into Geodis Group

Geodis Group is keeping their strategy of targeted company acquisitions in difficult times as well. Last week the Management confirmed the acquisition of the metallurgy unit and the central and eastern European area division of the Giraud International Group. The implementation of this plan is still subject to the approval of the competition authorities.

The two business units of the Giraud International Group are worth over EUR 100 million in annual revenues. The metallurgy unit shall be integrated into Geodis’ full truck load-division. Central and Eastern Europe-activities will be integrated into the logistics-division.

Since last year Geodis has been affiliated to the transport and logistics division of the French national railway SNCF. The company employs 25,200 persons in 120 countries. The most important segments are the “Freight Forwarding” and “Groupage” divisions, each producing around 35 per cent of the annual turnover, which lately amounted to EUR 4.8 billion. Further activities are rendered in the “Logistics” and “Full Truck Load” divisions.
