Grocontinental opens chilled warehouse as part of £11m investment

Grocontinental, the chilled and frozen logistics specialist, has completed the building of a new 50,000 sq ft warehouse as part of an £11 million investment in warehousing, vehicles and refrigerated trailers.

The new chilled facility at Whitchurch in Shropshire, has a capacity of 22,000 pallet spaces – and has been earmarked for existing customers’ products.

Managing director David Grocott said: ‘Our business growth strategy is to maintain and build a diverse base of customers in terms of size and across the food industry. This wide customer base keeps business risk low and has led to significant growth over recent years.”

Grocontinental’s customers include companies in the dairy, meat and bakery products sectors. Multi-temperature storage ranges from -28°c to +12°c.

The cost of the warehouse build was £6.5 million and the new facility has resulted in 15 new jobs at the company.
