Growth for DHL Freight in Turkey traffic

DHL Freight Austria is registering strong increases in its groupage cargo traffic from Kalsdorf near Graz to Turkey. Their location in Istanbul is used as a hub for the handling of general cargo services from Europe (with their point of collection in Kalsdorf) to Syria, Lebanon, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Also freight volumes going to and coming from the Turkish market show a strong growing tendency. Branch Manager Heike Sommer is in good spirits when talking to the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung (Austrian Transport Magazine), “regarding the expansion of the Istanbul route that is currently served with a groupage cargo transport once per week”.

Within the Austrian DHL organisation, DHL Freight is the competence centre for land transport in the fields of general cargo, part and full loads as well as for related warehousing services. International transport is a focus. These services are handled and controlled by 220 employees headed by Country Manager Josef Augustin. The network comprises stations in Vienna-Freudenau, the Vienna fair centre Messegelände, Graz-Kalsdorf, Wels, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Rankweil with almost 20,000 sq. m. warehousing and throughput area.
