Hermes modifies parcel delivery service in Austria

Post AG and DPD support Hermes in distribution within Austria

As of June 2009 Hermes will cooperate with DPD and the Österreichische Post AG (Austrian Post) in the segment of parcel distribution in Austria. “The current economic situation is a challenge for the whole industry. Thus we decided to cooperate with the Austrian Post and to expand the collaboration with DPD, which allows us to further optimise our networks”, explained Dieter Zillmann, Managing Director of Hermes in Austria.

According to Mr. Zillmann Hermes, DPD and Österreichische Post AG will continue to operate as independent competitors with their own strategies, different products and individual price calculations. Also Hermes will continue to operate the PaketShop network on its own. The number of stations will be increased from 1,200 to 1,600 shops within the next months. In the course of the reorganisation of the fine distribution the Hermes subcontractors shall be used where Österreichische Post AG and DPD are in need of additional resources.
