The global financial and economic crisis entails the expected negative impact on the development of air freight throughput at the Vienna International Airport. According to the traffic figures “hot off the press”, the volume handled in March (air freight and trucking) dropped to 20,474 tons, 16.1 per cent less than in the previous year.

Between January and March 54,220 tons of goods (air freight and trucking) were put through the airport of Austria’s capital. This figure is about 19.1 per cent smaller than the volumes in the first three months of 2008.
