High honour for apprenticeship of Gebrüder Weiss

Gebrüder Weiss was awarded the ”State-honoured training company” prize by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth

The trophy collection of the forwarding company Gebrüder Weiss (Lauterach) comprises a new prestigious and hard-earned prize. On 12 October the enterprise was awarded the ”State-honoured training company” prize by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth (BMWFJ – Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft, Familie und Jugend). The award took place on the ”Day of Apprenticeship 2010” at Vienna’s Museum for Applied Arts. Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, Minister of Economy, Family and Youth, handed over the award certificate to Wolfgang Niessner, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss.

The ”State-honoured training company” quality mark is awarded for special achievements in education and apprenticeship training pursuant to §30a of the Vocational Training Act (BAG). At the moment, Gebrüder Weiss has 125 apprentices in Austria, who are trained and supported within a network of trainers and apprentice commissioners. The main goal is to keep the apprentices employed within the company after their final exams and continue to train them in the long term. Various Gebrüder Weiss branches in Austria had been awarded the ”honoured training company” prize regionally, but this is the first time for Gebrüder Weiss to have been honoured countrywide.

The ”State-honoured training company” quality mark has been awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth for several years and allows the use of the national coat of arms in business communication. Criteria for the awarding include: success in apprenticeship-leave exams and in provincial and national professional competitions. The relevant data must be collected over a period of six years by the companies and submitted to the regional advisory board on apprenticeship of the respective province. After evaluating the application, the prize is awarded by unanimous decision of the education advisory board of Austria.
