RCA remains the rail-partner of the Forst Holz Papier cooperative

Forst Holz Papier cooperative renews cooperation with Rail Cargo Austria for two more years

Rail Cargo Austria (RCA) renewed its cooperation with the forestry, wood and paper cooperative Forst Holz Papier (FHP) until the end of 2014. In the course of bilateral negotiations representatives of both parties agreed to continue cooperation, initially fixed until 31 December 2012. The page-tariffs remain valid unchanged until the end of March. In April 2013 short-distance prices will be adjusted (maximum radius of 80 km), and from 1 July 2013 the page-tariff will be increased by 3.8 per cent, valid for 12 months. “Thus the course is set for wood transport on the rail in 2013 and 2014“, Rail Cargo Austria states in a press release.

The platform established in the course of the longstanding cooperation between Forst Holz Papier und Rail Cargo Austria, for cost-efficient wood transportations on the railway, will intensively work on further optimisation of the RCA network of transhipment points. The focus will remain on bundling and optimising resources to be able to provide the biggest possible area service with the best possible conditions from a business point of view.

The platform Forst Holz Papier (FHP) is a unique European cooperative of the forestry, wood and paper industry, aiming to strengthen the value-added chain of wood. The forestry, wood and paper sector is by far the biggest investor in rural areas. The value-added chain for wood secures around 300,000 jobs in Austria, generating annual production value of about EUR 12 billion in more than 172,000 companies. Average export surplus amounts to EUR 3.5 billion.
