Swedish Stena Line celebrates anniversary
50 years after founding: Stena Line headuqartered in Gothenburg is one of the world’s biggest ferry enterprises
The Swedish Stena Line is celebrating its 50-years-jubilee these days. Allan Olsson established the shipping company in 1962. Headed by his son Sten Olsson the enterprise headquartered in Gothenburg became one of the world’s leading providers of ferry services and operator of five ports.
In 2011 Stena Line operated its fleet of 32 vessels on 19 own routes between the Netherlands and Great Britain, the Irish Sea and the Baltic Sea between Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland and Germany. They transported close to 15 million passengers, about 3 million cars and 1.6 million freight units. Moreover the enterprise offers comprehensive service packages.
