Hotel to be redeveloped for warehousing

Approval has been given to redevelop a hotel to provide warehousing in the supply starved southeast last week.

Hertsmere Council has granted outline consent to redevelop the former Mercure Hotel in Bushey to provide some 322,000 ft2 of warehouse and industrial space fronting the A41 despite nearly 20,000 objections.

Developer Regen Properties secured permission for a 150,000 ft2 scheme earlier this year but such was the demand for space in the region that it increased the scheme by securing further land adjacent to the hotel site.

The scheme is expected to be available to occupiers in 2024.
