HSBC backs a dedicated HGV service area

HSBC has awarded Exelby Services a £4 million finance package, to support the development of its new filling station on the A1M, in North Yorkshire.

The funding goes towards a £6.5 million project, which aims to create a service area which meets specialist refuelling and rest needs of HGVs and their drivers.

It is set to include 150 parking spaces, and lead to 15 new jobs.

Exelby submitted plans for the site in 2010, after the A1 upgrade meant trucks were making detours along the A1M to reach its nearby Londonderry service area.

The company expects the new facility to be complete by September 2014.
