Hupac established new business area „Company Shuttle“

Transport companies handling larger volumes can plan and  book their own block-trains with the Combi-operator Hupac AG starting in autumn 2014

The Swiss Combi-operator Hupac positions itself for continued growth. For customers, who are willing to deal with the utilisation risk, the company will offer the “company shuttle” service starting in autumn 2014. Hupac will focus on the organisation of the block-train concept, while other elements, such as rolling material, terminal handling, event management, etc. can be integrated into the service concept depending on customer requirements. Hupac has already been offering so-called “slot concepts”, in which customers take over a certain number of storage positions, since 2003.

“The new business unit allows for the development of the market”, Hans-Jörg Bertschi, president of the Hupac AG administrative board, explains the concept at a balance sheet press conference in Zurich. “While customers with a smaller volume can profit from the extensive Hupac network, transport companies who deal with larger volumes, can now plan and book their own customised block-trains with our company.”

The Hupac AG (Chiasso) is one of the leading providers in intermodal transport business through Switzerland and is one of the European “market leaders”. The company’s network comprises 100 trains daily between the major European economic regions to Russia and the Far East. In 2013 the traffic volume amounted to about 657.000 road consignments. The Hupac Group employs 405 people in 12 companies with locations in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and Russia. In 2013 they registered a turnover increase of 5,7 per cent to 480,2 million CHF and an annual profit of 6,6 million CHF.
