H.Essers acquires Steelexpress from Arcelor Mittal Group

Transport division of the steel giant Arcelor Mittal becomes part of H.Essers Group; Steelexpress is specialized in the market of exceptional transports

H.Essers Group announces the acquisition of the Belgian company Steelexpress. The enterprise with headquarters in Overpelt belongs to the Arcelor Mittal Group until now. The activities of Steelexpress are situated in the segment of exceptional transport. Its 13 employees and the fleet – consisting of 12 trucks and 74 trailers – are integral taken over by H.Essers. In 2013 the company scored a turnover of EUR 1.2 million.

Through our sister company Geertrans-Hellings, H.Essers are active in the market of exceptional transports for several years now. The acquisition of the transport division of the steel giant provides ample complementary activities so that a further specialization and anchoring in this particular sector is possible. Steelexpress will therefore also be physically integrated in Eksel.

With 850,000 m² of warehouse space, a fleet of 1,050 trucks and 2,200 trailers, H.Essers is one of the largest logistics providers in Europe. The company has over 3,000 employees across 30 offices in 10 countries in Western and Eastern Europe. Along with their headquarters in Genk (Belgium), H.Essers also has a strong presence in Romania.
