IDS Logistik counts on high quality also in 2009

General cargo alliance IDS Logistik shows positive balance in 2008

IDS Logistik GmbH is bracing itself for a difficult market environment. In the first three months of the year 2009 competition has become considerably fiercer because of the substantial declines in volumes. Dr. Michael Bargl, Managing Director, responds to this development by adjusting processes and systems to the changed conditions. However, the Manager continues to hold on a combination of high quality, network densification and keeps a sharp eye on potential fields for optimisation.

In 2008 a total of 10.1 million consignments were forwarded within the IDS network, which is 3.2 per cent more than in the previous year. International volume rose by 6 per cent. Traffic in Germany recorded to 8.27 million consignments. Net turnover amounted to EUR 1.716 billion (+ 5.2%). EUR 1.19 billion thereof have been generated in the core business of national land transports and EUR 431 million (+ 19.7%) with international operations.

In 2008 Germany’s leading general cargo alliance had around 7,200 employees at 44 locations. The service portfolio includes service functions within the scopes of procurement, warehousing, distribution, returns handling and billing.
